Media personality and business tycoon Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her television talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, has caused her to gain significant influence and recognition in the whole USA. Known to her fans as a loving and compassionate woman, Oprah continues to expand her reach as a celebrity, businesswoman, philanthropist and author.
Early life
Oprah was born to unmarried parents Vernita Lee and Vernon Winfrey, during their teenage years. She spent the first six years of her life in poverty, often being ridiculed by other children in their neighborhood for wearing dresses made from potato sacks.
When she moved with her mother to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she suffered sexual abuse from her cousin and her uncle, as well as from a family friend. At fourteen, her mother sent her to live with her father Vernon, who, according to Oprah herself, was very supportive and encouraging of her. Through him, Oprah was able to garner awards in school, which led her to earn scholarships as well.

How Do I Become A Lawyer
The legal profession offers a variety of roles which can provide a prosperous career, not all the lawyers in the completed a degree in law with 18.5% of a poll of 7000 saying they had a degree in another area and 23% moving from other careers. If you do not have a degree you can qualify by completing a Graduate Diploma in Law also known as the Common Professional Exam or a Law Conversion course which enables graduates with a non-law degree to ‘convert’ their existing education with a one year course.
Even if you have completed a law degree or qualification you will still be required to complete a ‘Legal Practice Course’. The LPC is the last compulsory academic qualification before becoming a solicitor. The qualification ensures trainee solicitors have the knowledge and skills they need. This course can be taken all over the UK and takes one year full time. Before becoming a fully qualified solicitor you need to under take a two year ‘Training Contract’ which is usually a paid position and involves practice based learning.
