Writing – Become A Brand Name Writer And Succeed
Want to become a successful writer? You can, even if you’ve never been published before, if you understand one thing: you need to build your name until you become a “brand name” writer.
Although you may never succeed in your brand-building efforts to the level of JK Rowling or Stephen King, as long as some editors and other buyers know your name, you will always have a long list of clients and will build a successful writing career.
It’s very simple: the more people who know your name, the more people will buy your writing. Large companies understand the value of their brand; much of their advertising is solely brand-building – they want to get their name known, and they realize that they must constantly remind people of their brand.
Brand-building is Vital: People Do Business with People They Know
Writing is actually a very small world. People pass your name around. So if you’ve written for a magazine, an editor will pass your name on to another editor who’s looking for a writer for a book.
If you’ve sold several articles to a Web site, another site owner will see your name and contact you. If you’re writing a blog, many people will contact you to write for them.

Write More – Time Management For Writers
Want to write more? You can, even if you think you have “no time.” Many writers write a book a year, in 20-minute sessions. Everyone has 20 minutes a day.
In this article, we’ll discover how you can make every writing minute count, so you can write whatever you want to write. You may well be surprised that you have much more time than you think you do.
So let’s assume that out of your busy life, you can carve 20 minutes a day for your writing. During those 20 minutes, you won’t browse news or shopping sites, or read your email: you’ll write.
Here are three tips to ensure that you do.
1. Set Process Goals, Because You Have Control of Them
You’re in control of your own writing process, so if you set process goals, you’re always assured of meeting them. A process goal may be to write an article a day, or 500 words of your novel, or a post on your blog.
You’ll have other goals for your writing of course, like getting published in Magazine X, or whatever, and you’ll need to map a path to achieving those goals.

Take the Challenge: Write Nonfiction in November
My email box has been filling up with notices about the annual start of National Novel Writing Month (www.nanowrimo.org). However, in general, I write nonfiction. If you, like me, consider yourself a nonfiction writer, don’t sit around for the next 30 days twiddling your thumbs and wishing you had a cool contest to enter this month. Instead, join me in starting and finishing a work of nonfiction during November. That’s right, take part in the Write Nonfiction in November (www.writenonfictioninnovember.wordpress.com/) challenge.
Instead of writing 50,000 words of fiction in 30 days, commit to writing an article, a booklet, a newsletter, or a book in the same amount of time. Whatever non-fiction writing project you’ve been putting off, get started now. You can even start a blog and blog for 30 days.
No one will be looking over your shoulder. Write Nonfiction in November does not constitute a contest, and I won’t be handing out a prize at the end of the month. Your award comes in the form of the great feeling you will get from knowing you completed your “assignment.” No one will be counting your words, nor does anyone care how many words you write (not even me). You simply are challenged to write — and to not write alone. I’ll be writing every day, too, and hopefully some other people will be writing as well.
